Safety Information
Safety Information
Safety on our adventures is our number one priority. The following safety measures will be implemented by Trail Trekkers as part of this adventure:
- Clear instructions will be provided before heading off, and ensure no runner gets left behind.
- Running will be during daylight hours only.
- The route may be modified for participants that are struggling, which may include going to the nearest campsite, and returning back to the start point rather than continue through the hike.
- The Group Leader will have a mobile phone and satellite navigation device and know how to use and send location coordinates to emergency services if required.
- All runners will have the Group Leaders’ mobile number; in case they need to make contact during the adventure.
- Runners/hikers will be made aware of hazards while moving over the trail e.g.; low branch, trip hazard, wildlife, etc, and clarification for deaf and blind runners.
- Regular drink and food breaks will be regularly provided, and Group Leaders will monitor participants for signs of fatigue, dehydration or heat stress.
- Runners and hikers will be encouraged to run/hike with a buddy.
- A full First Aid Kit will always be available in the Group Leader’s car with participants knowing how to access.
- Rain events with 50mm or more rain will result in events being postponed or cancelled.
- Planned burns in NPWS areas occur at times and we may need to modify routes if required or reschedule events.
