Get Ready for The Wild Earth Unbroken Teams Trail Marathon!

Bob Baker

We’re thrilled to announce our inaugural trail running event, featuring the legendary Steve Jackson from Trail Trips and Events at the stunning Scribbly Gum Conservation Area next Easter. Our journey with Steve began over a decade ago with the Hamilton Island Hilly Half, a race we fell in love with so much that we made it an annual tradition. The joy and camaraderie of trail running have inspired us to create our own event, ‘Unbroken’!

Trace and I are passionate about the Teams Trail concept, which perfectly aligns with our love for trail running, camping, and empowering others to tackle unique challenges. Since diving into the Unbroken event, we’ve spent lots of time exploring the Scribbly Gum trails, captivated by their beauty and proximity to Brisbane CBD. We’re overjoyed to host the event from Hilliard State School, which has generously offered us their oval for camping and their hall as a base, right next to the trails. Imagine families and friends coming together at Easter for our first running event—it’s going to be amazing!

Trail events have always intrigued us, and the idea of breaking a marathon into chunks allows runners of all levels to conquer a marathon distance or, for ultra runners, a double marathon, with the support of a team. I still recall the exhaustion of crossing the finish line at my first Gold Coast Marathon, but the thought of tackling it in three 14k loops makes it much more appealing!

Earlier this year, Redlands Council approached us to host a running event, and their support for Unbroken has been fantastic. They’re eager to provide a marquee trail running experience for the Redlands community. Trace and I were part of the inaugural Redlands Council Adventure Festival and plan to be involved in future events to continue promoting the Unbroken concept. We loved engaging with festival-goers and sharing the exciting adventures offered by Trail Trekkers. Although Unbroken had to be postponed due to the cyclone, we’re finally set to make it happen next Easter!

But trails, teams, and tents are just the beginning of what drew us to the Unbroken event. We’re excited to create a festival vibe with running merchandise stalls, a bar, diverse food options, live music, hot showers, games, movies, camping, glamping, a massage tent, workshops, and more. We believe this unique trail running experience will inspire both runners and their supporters.

Join us for a weekend packed with fun, adventure, and new experiences at the very first Unbroken event! Let’s make memories that will last a year and support this innovative concept, which we hope to bring to other areas in the future.
